Well this weekend is Father’s Day, which also means Charlie is 2! Since I can’t remember the exact date my dog was born – I just remember it was around  father’s day, so this weekend is his birthday, either day will do….

I took Charlie and Phoebe (a dog we were babysitting for the weekend) into the studio – that’s right Chasing Charlie now has an official place to meet you all at! – for a few shots of them looking particularly pathetic in birthday hats. Charlie always looks pathetic when dressed up, mostly because I am pretty sure he hates every moment of it. I am also not sure that wearing a party hat was the activity he would have planned to commemorate his birthday, but he had a fun filled weekend with Phoebe, so it wasn’t all torture. I further tortured Charlie with an enticing cupcake that he was not allowed to eat ….. I am really failing at this dog birthday thing……
Phoebe also just turned 1 (I think it was last week) so I took some of her too. Though she was a bit more opinionated about wearing a hat and didn’t just suffer through it, she actively fought against it and then started eating her hat (no hat was actually ingested).

The one trick that my dog does know for birthdays is how to sing happy birthday. The video of us singing to him is coming soon, but until then enjoy this video of him singing happy birthday to Kevin with me.

Happy Friday!

  • Courtney - Great set Jesse! LOVE the vertical of Charlie “guarding” the cupcake! Haha.ReplyCancel

  • Lara - Happy birthday, Charlie! Adorable photos.ReplyCancel

My sister is constantly giving me a hard time about how few pictures I take of her dog, so when I was down in Santa Cruz last week we all went on a walk and I got a few shots of Harold at one of his all time favorite places.  The beach. He loves to fetch, surf (sort of) and all around just play with other dogs. No more complaining Mere! Okay?!

Hello and Welcome! If you are stopping by the blog for the first time (maybe we met at the Pet Expo) then a very big WELCOME! Take a moment to poke around, maybe head on over to Facebook, or feel free to follow me on Twitter. I will have some exciting things coming up this summer and even towards Christmas, so I do recommend heading on over to Facebook and liking Charlie and I, so you can stay up to date (or bookmark this website).

Also I am running a little bit of a special, and adding an extra $50 print credit if you book by June 15th – we don’t have to actually shoot by the 15th,  we just need to get it in our calendars.

My regular session fee is $175 and includes:

– Up to an hour of shooting with one dog* at locations of your choosing – this could be at home, in the park, at the beach or in studio. You pick!

– A $50 print credit best used at the follow up session (if you book by June 15th this is bumped up to $100)

*Additional pets can be added for $25 each, which includes extra shooting time. Other family members are welcome to participate free of charge

If you didn’t stop by the Expo today, come on down on Sunday (or if you are reading this on Monday, just take a look at the photos).

Big thank you to Rook and Rose Floral Boutique for the cute little billy buttons (the yellow flower balls) and bouquet at the succulents!  If you are interested in a custom felted dog (or cat) send me an email and I will put you in touch with the woman who made these adorable little creatures. Also big thanks to Emmy and Aaron from EA Photo for the booth backdrop! In big part to you guys I think I have the best looking booth of all!

Cheers!

  • Sue - Just wanted to say, job well done and your booth was great and that little Charlie steals your heart. Boston’s are just so incredibly special. I met another gal that is Boston crazy, Wendy from the Shake A Paw Greeting card for dogs. She lives in James Bay, did you see or meet her?
I wish I had the $ for a photo shoot. I would love to just once get my FOUR dogs in one picture and all looking good. I have the two Boston’s and then the two Chihuahua’s also. It could be quite the challenge. I will have to eventually get the professional photo shoot tho’ I would love to have a great picture of myself and my Boston’s. Just one. :P
Love your pictures and thank you for talking to me.

It isn’t easy to admit it, but my dog is not perfect. In fact at times he can be downright bad. So a few months ago I sought out some professional help and ended up in the VERY capable hands of Darcie from CommuniCanine. So, it was a delight to get to photograph Darcie and her own lil pack of dogs. If you have a Puppy, or just need some help with your dog give Darcie a ring! A range of classes and offers great one on one sessions. She also has some very helpful (and adorable) videos over on YouTube, talking about the training she has done with her newest addition Cricket. The Puppy Project videos can be seen here.

Darcie’s family consists of Nayla:

Jada:And little Cricket:Together they make up the team at CommuniCanine – We headed out in Cenntenial Park for our shoot –
